Alcohol Inked Backgrounds to Color in Stamped Images + Blog Hop
I’m super excited to share that Simon Says Stamp has unveiled the latest collection of coordinating dies with Tim Holtz stamps! I am using both the Floral Elements and Tiny Text dies, which pair perfectly with Tim’s stamps (same names). The project I created with these stamps and dies is a perfect technique for adding color to outline images, without having to spend tons of time coloring them in.

Sometimes coloring can be daunting, and I know many crafters aren’t huge fans of coloring. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy using outlined images, because there are alternative ways you can add color to them!
All you need to do is create a colorful selection of backgrounds and then stamp over them! When you’ve die cut the image, your piece is beautifully colored, giving you a variegated look that was a lot of fun to achieve.

My project features some other unique dies—the Simon Says Stamp Garden Fence die was a perfect backdrop to my Floral Elements. I have the entire scene sitting on a Modern Teardrops panel (another super-cool die from Simon Says Stamp!).
I also added interesting details to the project, including some Distress ink and translucent Crackle Paint to age the piece. The vintage feel tied really well with the marbled, Tim Holtz Teal Palette patterned paper I used for the “grass” (a pattern often used on the covers of old books).

Smaller finishing touches included sequins/confetti embellishments and some splatter (using a mix of Tim Holtz Mica Stain and Simon Says Stamp Black Splatter Medium).
