Neat & Tangled Reveal Day #3
Hey there everyone! Today is day three of the Neat & Tangled July release and I am so excited to share my card with you featuring the adorable Mermazing stamp and die set, the Falling Circles stamp AND the Square Thoughts stamp set! Lots of really fun products used in this card, and I think you’re going to love them as much as I do!
The Falling Circles stamp set is a fun one that can be used in so many ways! However, I thought it would be perfect to use as bubbles when paired up with the Mermazing stamp set; the result looks super cool, especially in real life when you can see the iridescent sparkle I added to those circles! Unfortunately camera’s don’t capture those sparkling details as beautifully as they really look.
I started off my card by creating the underwater background; I used many layers of Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch and Squeezed Lemonade distress inks to achieve the intense, variegated look you see in the pictures, and that took quite a bit of time. It was so worth it though! I love how the layers create multiple depths of color and add a bunch of interest to this card. The application of the distress ink was done with an ink blending tool and I also added water droplets using my Distress Sprayer.
After the background was created (and the ink was throughly dried), I heat embossed the Falling Circles pattern along the bottom portion to create the illusion of bubbles floating up towards the surface of the water (because in my imagination that’s what I think it looks like!). For the embossing powder I used Wow’s Clear Hologram Sparkle powder, and the beautiful iridescent shimmer looks so pretty on top of the water!
Next it was time to stamp and color the images from the Mermazing stamp set; I stamped them all onto white cardstock and used Copic markers to color everything in. I’ll list out the colors below for reference if you are interested in the color combinations:
- mermaid: Y000, Y21, Y28 (hair), E0000, E00, E02, RV00 (skin and blush), YG41, G02, G03 (top), RV00, RV23, RV66, Y00, Y02, YG41, G02, BV0000, BV01 (fins and tail)
- whale: BV0000, BV31, BV01, BV04, YG41, G02, RV00
- seahorse: Y000, Y02, YR00, YR12, YR04, RV00, RV23, YG41
- fish: YG41, G02, G03, BV01, BV04, Y00, Y02, RV00, RV23
- seashells: RV00, RV23, RV55, YG41, G02, Go3
- starfish: Y00, Y02, Y21
- water droplets: BG0000, BG01, BG53, BG57, BG05
I die cut all the images out using the coordinating dies, and layered them up onto my background. I also die cut a sandy hill to be the ocean floor (colored with E51, E53, E33, E35) using a stitched border die.
Finally, I stamped a sentiment using the Square Thoughts set; this was white heat embossed onto vellum. I also added some embellishments using some of the new sequins from the Ocean Waves mix (also from Neat & Tangled), as well as Nuvo Crystal Droplets. The Nuvo Crystal Droplets is like Glossy Accents, but so far I think I like the Nuvo’s better!
