Sending Hugs
Hello Everyone! Today I am playing around with some stamps and ink to create this bright and happy card that is perfect for a variety of occasions.
For this card, I’ve chosen to work with some stamps and dies from Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp, and I’ve started off by die cutting the heart four times, using the Heart Parade die by Simon Says Stamp; three of the hearts are die cut from white cardstock, and the fourth is cut from watercolor paper. I adhered all the hearts together to create a chipboard-like embellishment, making sure that the watercolor paper heart was the top layer.
With some Peacock Feathers distress ink, I inked the heart using a blending tool, and then painted on a coating of Heidi Swapp Mint color shine for some shimmer. Once dry, I then took a dot stencil and some Ranger Texture Paste, and applied a polka dot pattern overtop for some extra embellishing.
On a 3 3/4″ by 5″ cardstock panel, I stamped the curly brackets from the Simon Says Stamp “Sketched Alphabet” stamp set in a rainbow-style using pigment inks. I also stamped the sentiment ‘sending hugs’ in a slight curve using the Hero Arts “XO” set (stamped in StazOn ink) and the little “xoxo” in the middle of the curly brackets with a second generation of gray pigment ink (the “xoxo” stamp is also from the Hero Arts “XO” stamp set).
I scored a frame around the edges of the panel and added some Wink of Stella clear glitter in some places. The heart embellishment I already created was then adhered to the panel with some liquid glue. Finally, I adhered the panel to my 5 1/4″ by 4″ card base with some foam tape.
But I wasn’t quite done yet…! I decided to continue the sentiment to the inside so that it read ‘Sending Hugs… Lots of hugs.’ The ‘lots of hugs’ and ‘xoxo’ stamps are both from the same “XO” stamp set by Hero Arts, and I stamped some more curly brackets from the Simon Says Stamp “Sketched Alphabet” set.
I love the clean and simple, bright and cheery look of this card, and playing around with the stamps and ink in some fun ways makes this card a little more interesting and unique. And of course, teal is the focal point of this card because it is my favorite color! :)
I hope you’ve enjoyed…. I’m so very happy you stopped by! Happy Creating!
