Envelopes in 4 Easy Steps + Simon’s Hey Bestie Release Hop
Today’s tutorial is part of the Simon Says Stamp Hey Bestie and Love You More release blog hop! Keep on reading for all the hop details.
When I’m making a card, I always enjoy taking the time to create a coordinating envelope to go with it. In the new Simon Says Stamp Hey Bestie release, there are three envelope die sets that I designed which are meant to help making custom envelopes the easiest they’ve ever been!
In today’s video I am going to teach you not only how to make the envelopes in their most basic form, but I’m also going to show you how to step them up a notch! We’re going to create a die cut, see-through window that aligns perfectly to the same die cut on the card inside.
These see-through windows give a peek as to what is inside, which I think is a great way to dress up an envelope! My envelopes today use both 4-Bar sized envelope dies but note that the A2 envelope die set assembles in the same way as the 4-Bar V-Flap envelope die.
Want to see how I did this?? Watch the video below!
So now that we’ve talked about the envelopes and you’ve watched how I made them, let’s touch a bit on how I actually made these cards!
I used the Be Kind stamp and die set (new from Simon Says Stamp!) to stamp, watercolor and cut out the pretty sprigs on these cards. Each leafy branch is watercolored with a mix of Daniel Smith and Prima watercolors.
These sprigs I’ve attached onto 4-bar cards, made with Soft Navy and Neenah Desert Storm cardstocks. The slightly smaller panels of cardstock layered onto the card bases are cut from Ivory cardstock.
I embellished the cards with a bit of twine tied around each sprig and some Moonshine sequins are sprinkled about for a bit of subtle shine.
Finally, I added simple thank you sentiments from the Botanical Heart stamp set to finish each card off.
When placed into their coordinating envelopes, the leafy branches peek through the vellum-covered, die cut window in an elegant way! And you know what? It was SO easy! I hope that you find these new envelope dies helpful in your crafting; they are definitely going to be a most-used tool in my studio from now on!
