Feeling Sad

Happy Thursday!

Today I have a fun “missing you” card featuring an adorable skunk from the Sweet Stamp Shop’s “Stinky Skunk” and “Feeling Today” stamp sets.

The skunk from the “Stinky Skunk” set is perfect for adjusting its facial expression, since it has only eyes and a nose. To start off with, I stamped him onto my  4″ by 4 1/4″ watercolor panel with some StazOn Jet Black ink. Because my skunk is missing someone, I gave him a little sad face by drawing a frown and some eyebrows with my black multiliner

Using my Derwent watercolor pencils, I colored in my skunk and also added in some ground below.

Next, I stamped the “I’m feeling”, which is from the “Feeling Today” set, in some StazOn ink. I then took the word “sad” from that same set, and stamped it in some teal pigment ink.

I did not have a cardstock color that matched exactly with my “sad” stamp, so I simply took that same teal pigment ink and colored a piece of white cardstock and layered this behind my watercolor panel. I then edged the entire watercolor panel with some white faux stitching.

My card base is cut from the same watercolor paper used as before, since I wanted to make sure the whites matched exactly; you could use any cardstock you would like for the base. I then took my scoring board and scored a cross hatch pattern across the card, just to add some texture and interest.

Some purple baker’s twine is tied around the bottom and I layered my watercolor panel onto the card with some foam tape. For a final finishing touch I added some Glossy Accents to the nose and eyes of my little skunk friend, as well as some white dots on his cheeks with a gel pen.

On the inside of the card I then stamped the words “miss you” using a stamp from the Simon Says Stamp “Soaring for You” stamp set.

And this completes the card for today… I hope you’ve enjoyed this clean and simple “missing you” card! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Inspiration & Challenges

This card’s white, purple and teal color combo is inspired by the Addicted to Stamps photo inspiration challenge (#135) and is submitted into the challenge as well.

It is also submitted into the Simon Says Stamp February “Work It Wednesday” challenge, and the Stampin’ Royalty “Watercolor” challenge (#270).
