Hello everyone! Have you seen the August card kit that was just released from Simon Says Stamp? This kit called Mandy’s Flowers, is full of florals and fresh colors; it’s one of my all-time favorite kits!

I’m additionally excited about something else in this kit… or rather, two things! I designed both the Mandy’s Flowers and Modern Rose Bloom stamp sets that are in the kit! Heidi (the owner of Simon) has a dear friend of her’s named, Mandy. I know Mandy; she’s such a kind, beautiful person, just like Heidi. Mandy has a flower business she has created and her love of florals, along with her style, was the inspiration behind the Mandy’s Flowers stamp set. Modern Rose Bloom is the perfect complement to that set, with its classy, modern spin on rose patterns. I hope you love both of the sets!

When creating with the Simon Card Kits, I really try to use mostly items that are in the kit, so you can be inspired and not feel like you need a ton of extra supplies to make pretty cards.

For the card I made today, I stamped a couple of the images from Mandy’s Flowers onto Strathmore watercolor paper with Ink on 3 Blackout ink. Then I watercolored those images using my favorite Prima watercolors. I fussy cut the images out, as I planned on popping them up off my card.

Those images were popped up off of another piece of Strathmore watercolor paper, which I had loosely watercolored a bit of sky and grass onto.  With the florals and picket fence, I added a couple of greetings that were heat embossed from the Mandy’s Flowers stamp set.

At this point I layered the floral scene I had created onto a piece of the BoBunny Early Bird patterned paper that is included in the kit. You’ll notice the edges are distressed. I don’t often add distressing like this to my cards, but the natural feel of the kit and the card I created, seemed to match well with that look. To distress the edges of the paper, I use Tim Holtz and Tonic Studios’ cute Paper Distresser tool.

I used a bit of the white cardstock included in the kit as my card base and added a few sequins and Bubblegum Blush Nuvo Drops here and there. Finally I wrapped a bit of the May Arts hemp around the top of the entire card (which is also in your kit).

This card has lots of pretty layers and I was really happy with how both it and the stamp sets I illustrated, came together for this August Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp! I hope you enjoyed and were inspired today!
