Distress Crayons on an Embossing Folder + Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop!
Do you like to play with mediums and layer them to create cool effects? If yes, then you’re going to have a blast with this idea! I’m using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons and Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks on top of an embossed background, which provided a gorgeous mix of color and texture on my card! I’m also using new products from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Moments release—and participating in the blog hop celebrating this new collection!

The embossing folder is new, called Crocus Field. If you don’t have this exact folder, you can easily swap it for something you already have that is similar. Think florals, trees, and other scenic backdrops.

The sentiment on my card is from the new Good Greetings 1 set. It is stamped in a light purple, which is one of the ink colors I used on the background. The black card base really draws your focus to the florals. The sequin embellishments and silver splatter add the perfect finishing touches to the card.

WOW! I love the colors you selected. Great ideas for using those crayons! Personally, I didn’t really know how to use them in my projects.
Oh Nina Marie, so many things I can say about your card project. First off, your card is a perfect representation of SPRING. Crocus is one of the earliest flowers to bloom where I live, they peek their little heads out of the ground to let us know that winter is winding down, nothing says dedication like a wee little Crocus blooming in the snow. The new Crocus Field embossing folder is a wonderful replica of how a gathering of little Crocus flowers will look, the method you used to color your embossed panel highlighted the detail of the embossing folder perfectly. Your usage of first the ink followed by the Distress Crayons was brilliant and a fabulous reminder to me to “use my Distress Crayons” so thank you for the reminder and THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful project,. BTW, you spoke my thoughts about having dies for sentiments, dies make everything better, I am aware that a lot of crafters don’t mind fussy cutting & they actually do it well, not this crafter, for me it’s called cussy cutting and I’d way rather be putting my card together than to still be fussy (cussy) cutting the sentiment, one quick turn of the paper could be the difference in using the piece I’m cutting or re-doing a stamped image. THANKS for sharing your beautiful card Nina.
GORGEOUS 😍
Um just WOW,
