Hot Foiling 2 Ways on Specialty Paper + Simon’s Yay You Hop
Hot foiling is a ton of fun; I love how simple it is, as well as how beautiful of a result it provides on any surface. In this video I am setting aside the cardstocks and pulling out all the stops with specialty papers! If you haven’t tried foiling on specialty papers, I hope this video will encourage you to give it a go! All of my cards feature the new Yay You release from Simon Says Stamp.
This card uses the new Arched Greens cling to make a frame of leaves around the greeting, which comes from the Happily a Lifetime stamp set. On top of the leaves are Dancing Butterflies—a new hot foil plate and die set from Simon! I foiled the butterflies in gold onto vellum. For all of the colored stamping I used Aspen, Sage and Pine Pawsitively Saturated Inks. If you look closely, around the card are gold “gilded” edges; I did that with Foundry Wax from Tim Holtz.
This second card is an edge to edge shaker that features a hot foiled Sketched Leafy Wreath on the plastic that makes up the shaker. I also used the Dancing Butterflies hot foil plate to create vellum butterflies to layer on top. A sentiment from the XL Birthday Greetings set was the perfect style for this card.
