Anyone Can Make This Using Distress Paints, and Sprays! NEW Distress Color from Tim Holtz

I thought it would be fun to take some of my most-favorite, Tim Holtz Distress Colors (including the new Saltwater Taffy!) and pair them up to create a mixed media “color study” that I can display in my craft room! Throughout this project I used Saltwater Taffy, Salvaged Patina, and Kitsch Flamingo, which look absolutely amazing together! I want to give a shoutout to Simon Says Stamp for sending me the new Saltwater Taffy color ahead of the release so that I could share inspiration using it with all of you!

My base for this project is the Tim Holtz Medium Etcetera Tag, which has a layer of white gesso added on top. Then I used Distress Spray Stains to add my color. Distress Spray Stains are water reactive, so that allowed me to get some really cool texture effects.

The paint brush featured on this piece was found at the hardware store. I painted it with Saltwater Taffy Distress Paint, then added Spray Stains and Texture Paste on top for a very inky finish (the Texture Paste was colored with the same Distress Paints).

I tried to keep the supplies for this project minimal, so that it made it more approachable for even the most beginner of mixed media artists! I added some Tim Holtz elements such as Large Hinge Clip, Stitched Scraps, Mummy Cloth, and a Butterfly Adornment. I also grabbed some buttons from my stash to accent the colors used throughout the project!

This was SO much fun to create, and now I cannot wait to display it in my craft space so I can enjoy these beautiful colors every single day!
