3 Stenciling Techniques + Bonus Idea! + Simon’s New Hello Beautiful Release Hop

I don’t know about you, but I love stenciling! The new Spring Boho Circle stencil from Simon Says Stamp’s Hello Beautiful release is a versatile and beautiful design that I’m featuring in 3 different techniques!

Color Wheel Blending

This technique utilizes masking tape to segment your stencil into sections. The amount of sections you include on your “color wheel” is totally up to you; I chose 8 for my backgrounds.

This color wheel card features the Spring Boho Circle stencil, ink blended with Brush Applicators and Distress Oxide inks. I stamped and colored a floral image from the Best Friend Ever stamp and die set and paired the flowers with a greeting from the Reverse Easter Sentiment Strips. Some Moonshine sequins add a little sparkle to the finished card.

The second version using this color wheel technique features the new Sketch Iris stamp and die set, as well as greetings from the Welcoming and Reverse Baby sets. I added Moonshine sequins to this card too.

Alcohol Lift Inking

Alcohol Lift Ink can be used for more than just stamping! I used a mini ink blending tool to apply the ink through my stencil, lifting the alcohol ink off my background!

To finish this card, I die cut the Lucky to Know You die from Simon Says Stamp with white and gold glitter cardstocks. I also included a gold foil heart cut with the Clipping Heart die. For embellishment I adhered a few of the Lucky sequins from the new Hello Beautiful release!

Foiling with Stencils

The third idea I shared in my video was foiling with stencils. Foiling is such a fun technique, and with the Transfer Gel from ThermoWeb, you can foil with stencils instead of toner!

On my mini slimline card, I foiled the Spring Boho Circle onto kraft cardstock with Gina K. Designs Turquoise Sea foil. The Transfer Gel was applied through my stencil prior to foiling so that when I ran this paper through a laminator, the foil would stick to the dried gel. I embellished the card with a greeting from the Slimline Beautiful You stamp set, embossed with the new Cream embossing powder from Simon. I also glue silver gems onto the background for a little sparkle.

All these ideas using the same stencil provided such unique and gorgeous results! I truly enjoy stenciling and also have a fourth technique included in the video as a special bonus! Here’s a sneak peek… be sure to watch the video to see how I did it!

If I could only buy one item from this release, it would be the Spring Boho Stencil, so thank you for providing three great ways of using it. While I adore all three cards, I think my favorite is the one using the foiling technique. I live in the Southwest, and am especially attracted to its turquoise and “earth” feel. Love it!
