2 Ways: Creating with Distress Oxides [Simon’s STAMPtember Blog Party]
Hello crafty friends! I am back again today, sharing 2 ways to create with Distress Oxides, plus inspiration using the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® release! Did you know that Simon is celebrating 10 years of STAMPtember® this month?? It’s always so exciting to reach mega-milestones like this and to celebrate, Simon has a lot of fun surprises in store for you all throughout the month… such as a giant Blog Party!
What is the Blog Party? Simon has a list of designers (myself included) on their blog that are each sharing inspiration using the new STAMPtember® release! And as an extra-special surprise, there is an exclusive free gift offer for you:
My first card for the Blog Party features the gorgeous, Thank You Swirl die which I foiled with the Gemini FoilPress machine. I love foiling with dies because the raised, cut lines create a beautiful, delicate foil design. For the foil, I used the Rose Gold color; I love how it pairs so well with the Distress Oxide inks stamped with.
To stamp, I picked out Victorian Velvet, Evergreen Bough, Fossilized Amber and Dusty Concord Distress Oxides and used the outline images from the Look for the Rainbows stamp set; as I stamped, I framed the images around the greeting. I further accented the colors of the foil and ink by adding a few Rose Gold sequins and Pansy Purple jewels.
Finally, I added a sentiment from Simon’s new All the Thanks stamp set underneath the foiled greeting.
The second card I created started by using Victorian Velvet and Old Paper Distress Oxide inks to blend a soft background. Next, I took the Flora background cling and stamped those same colors over top the background, creating a tone on tone effect. With a clear glitter brush pen, I lifted a bit of the color from some of the petals in the stamping, which adds some variation – and shimmer – to the overall design.
I gold heat embossed a sentiment from the new, Healing Hugs stamp set onto the background, and popped a supporting sentiment above that from the same set. The background is also embossed along the edges with the gold embossing powder, which gives the panel an elegant look. I popped that whole panel up off a kraft card base and embellished everything with a few Blue Moon sequins, that also have Nuvo Drops inside of them.
I hope these cards inspire you to create with the new STAMPtember® release from Simon Says Stamp! Be sure to keep on reading to learn more about the blog party!
