Watercolors + Pencils + No Line Coloring
Hello crafty friends! I am popping by to share a card I made using a brand new stamp set that was put together by my fellow Cape Cod friend, Jenn Shurkus!
This set truly captures Jenn’s love of Cape Cod, and I was honored that she gave me one of these new sets; you can find the stamp set here. You can also read about where these stamps came from here on Jenn’s blog.
I’ve decided to color some of the images in the set with watercolors, and add a bit of extra detail with colored pencils.
For the watercolors, I used a mix of both Prima and Daniel Smith colors; the Caran d’Ache Luminance pencils are what I used to add extra-fine details. The sharp point of the pencils allow you to be more precise than if you used a watercolor brush.
I decided to give this card a bit of a “distressed” effect. The Tim Holtz & Tonic Studios Paper Distresser is the perfect tool for achieving that “worn paper” look easily (and safely!). I not only distressed the edge of my watercolored scene, but also a piece of Carta Bella’s Summer Splash pattern paper, which is layered behind the scene.
I finished off the card by tying a bit of red twine along the left side of the card, plus a few sequins from Simon’s Smooch mix are tucked here and there between the layers.
I hope you are inspired by today’s project featuring this Cape Cod exclusive stamp set that my friend Jenn has created! I’m so happy you stopped by and that you will be back again to see more inspiration! I’ll see you soon!
