Hello everyone! I’m popping in with quite a few little things for you that I’m excited to share! First up, have you seen the brand new, Mother’s Day Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp? When this set was in the beginning stages of its creation process, I knew we wanted florals as the theme. There are so many beautiful flower stamp sets, that I wanted to make sure I illustrated something that was a bit “unique”. One type of floral I don’t see often is the Clematis; a gorgeous, delicate bloom that comes in so many colors, but especially pinks and purples. I was also particularly struck by the detail on the edges of the petals, which was quite fun to illustrate into the flower. So, this is how the Clematis found its way onto this set! The sentiments I wrote myself as well; I included detailed, thoughtful and meaningful words within these sentiments. This allows you to choose what words you want to convey to your own mother; you can even mix and match some of them to create additional content on your card.

Speaking of card kits, this card is something I created a while back using the Showers & Flowers stamp set that I had designed for a previous Simon card kit. This stamp set is available (the kit is sold out), which you can find HERE. You can also get coordinating dies with this stamp set.
I had stamped the duck with his galoshes onto Strathmore watercolor paper with Simon Intense Black ink; then I watercolored him using Daniel Smith watercolors. I also watercolored a freehand scene of some grass and clouds to bring everything to life.

The sentiments are also from the Showers and Flowers set, which I stamped with Lipstick Red and Simon embossing ink; the embossing powder I used was my favorite Alabaster from Brutus Monroe.
With the rainy day theme, I kept thinking of the “every cloud has a silver lining” saying, so I painted on a bit of the Tonic Studios Aqua Shimmer pen onto the stormy clouds to capture that effect. And I LOVE how it worked! This shimmer pen has become my hands-down favorite pen for adding a bit of sparkle!

I commented on your facebook post but I had to drop a comment here as well. Nina I am so looking forward to your new designs! You have a very fresh approach and I love that. You can’t go wrong with florals but I get tired of the simple swirly line flowers and well you know everyone has a peony and a daisy the market is flooded with like 4-5 flowers and there’s nothing wrong with that at all but I crave variety. I keep hoping someone will dare to try lily of the valley but I can imagine they’d not be easy for a stamp/die but the simplicity and beauty is worth wishful thinking. You’ve really been knocking it out of the park, I truly look forward to what you come up with next your stamps have been the thing that really sold me on both kits – just sayin <3
