Distress Ink Smooshing + NEW DieCember Release Inspiration

Hello everyone! Are you ready for some DieCember® fun to begin? The newest release from Simon Says Stamp celebrates the love of die cutting in a whole new level!

I personally love the design-versatility that die cutting gives to paper crafting; from being able to create sentiments and embellishments, detailed critters and scenes, textures and backgrounds… there are so many things die cutting allows us to do, which is totally worth celebrating over!

When I got the new DieCember release, I was really excited about many of the new dies, including the Joy and Bliss snowflakes dies. These large snowflakes are SO gorgeous and work well for creating both a background or standing as a focal point on a card. Simon also has a snowflake die set called Stitched Flakes that matches up perfectly with the Joy and Bliss dies.

There is a gorgeous metallic sheen on each of these snowflakes, which I created with one of my favorite watercolor products; Prima Metallic Accents. The snowflakes are colored with Distress Inks, but afterward I added the Metallic Accents overtop. That resulted in some stunning, shimmering colors mixed into the blues and purples of the Distress Ink.

And speaking of shimmer, Simon has released some gorgeous, new glitter paper that I truly love! Not only does it come in a wide range of colors – including colors you don’t often see in other glitter paper collections – it also is a non-shedding glitter paper. Meaning, this glitter paper won’t rub off! I am so excited about this glitter paper! On my card, I used some of the beautiful Orchid shade of paper, which matches perfectly with the colors of the snowflakes.

You’ll also noticed the fun edging on the white panel of the card; this was created with the fun Arched Stitching Borders dies; when you want something different than just the typical straight edge, dies like this are perfect!

For my sentiments, I chose to cut greeting with the Script Thanks Simon die set and stamp a supporting sentiment from the Kind Flowers stamp set. Finally, I added a few Moonshine confetti sequins around the snowflakes on the background.

I hope you will check out the video below to see how I created this card! Also make sure you check out the entire Simon Says Stamp DieCember release products… I have them all linked below! Thanks for visiting with me today; I will be back very soon with another video to share!
