Fiskars has many of these fingertip control tools, some of which I own and love. These new tweezers are very intriguing! The finger loop (as with the other Fiskars tools like this), gives you a lot of control while allowing you to squeeze the tweezers open and close while working on your projects. Having good control is so important when working with detailed projects!

Spring action scissors have become increasingly popular over the past couple years and these Micro Tip scissors are a great tool for people that do a lot of fussy or fine detail cutting on their projects. The micro-tip allows you to get into tight spaces; this one in particular has a special blade design that allows for even more precise cutting. Spring action scissors are meant to relieve strain that sometimes occurs during long periods of detailed cutting. These recently won the Arthritis Foundation’s Ease of Use Commendation because of their great design and quality.

These new stamping blocks are similar to Fiskars’ other stamp blocks, but have additional features that the originals do not. For one, the smaller blocks each have grips on the sides for easy holding (no more blocks slipping from your hand during stamping!). Second, the largest stamp block has feet on it that allow you to position your stamp before pressing down. I like that the feet raise the block up off of your project and does not apply the stamp down onto the paper until you press on top of the block. The largest block is similar to their original Stamp Press tool.

The large 15×18 inch silicone craft mat is a great staple for your supply “arsenal”. It provides an easy to set up/easy to clean up surface that protects your work table from messy supplies. I really like that this mat is heat resistant, which is very handy when using to protect surfaces from things such as hot glue guns or heat tools.

HOLSTER BRANDS

These awesome holders from Holster Brands are REALLY intriguing! While they are not new-new, they are new to me (and to the Simon Says Stamp shop!)… I just picked one of these up to use along the front of my work table!

The holsters are made from specially designed silicone and clings to any smooth, non-porous surface. Textured surfaces are not a recommended surface for attaching a holster to. They work by simply laying the holster on your surface and the silicone material creates a strong, temporary bond.

While these were originally meant for using with hot irons in the bathroom or in the kitchen for cooking, I could see using these with a variety of craft items! Things such as heat guns, the Fuse tool, hot glue guns, etc. They are meant to be able to take heat, but bear in mind that the do have heat limits, so you will want to double check how hot the item you are placing in the holster is.

I plan on using the holsters for holding those “favorite” supplies that are often used; things like scissors, craft picks, pens… even a stamp shammy would be awesome to put inside of these holsters! I’ve even hung it over the side of my Ikea Raskog cart!

The Ink Duster brushes from Inkylicious have become a well loved tool for me over the past couple months! These are different from Ink Blending tools, which are commonly used with Distress Inks.

The biggest difference between these tools is the fact that the Ink Dusters apply a lighter coating of ink. If you want a heavier application, it requires more effort and layers. Ink blending tools tend to apply heavier amounts of ink.

I also enjoy using the Ink Dusters with delicate stencils, as they do not catch on stencils as easily as ink blending tools do. There are other brands of Ink Duster brushes, but these are more economical since you get three in a pack and they are double-sided. You can also wash the bristles of these brushes; I prefer to wipe them with baby wipes, but you can use water to rinse the ink off. Just be careful not to submerge the brushes into the water.

If you like using steel rule dies as much as I do, then you will love this cutter! I was always on the look out for a great pair of cutters to snip my dies apart. Many of the cutters you’ll find on the market have wider points, making it hard to get in between the tiny spaces of the dies. When I found these cutters, I was really excited because they have a much smaller tip.

I’ve not had any trouble with these since I got them; I’ve been using them for about 6 months now. They are definitely worth picking up!

Great review Nina of some of the new tools out there. It is always so temping to just go out and buy the newest crafting tool even when you don’t know how well it will work (I am very guilty of doing this) so your information is extremely helpful! I think the fingertip control tweezers look like a fantastic tool and so does the micro tip spring scissors. Thank you for the great review!!!
