The card I have for this afternoon features the Penguins in Paradise stamp set from My Favorite Things which I have used to create this fun beachy scene!

When planning this card, I wanted to create a scene that evoked a good reflection of the sentiment “let’s chill”, and the penguin laying on the towel seemed like the perfect compliment. I decided to have him laying under some palm trees with his tropical beverage, while his beach ball lays off to the side since he is taking a break from his activities and is just “chilling” out! :)

I stamped all my elements onto white cardstock and colored them all with Copic markers. Copics used:

Penguin: T0, T2, T4, T6, T8, T10, B63, YR23, E23
Palm Trees: YG01, YG21, YG25, G14, YG99,  E31, E84, E17
Beach Ball: BG53, B05, B63, BV17, Y21, Y38, YG01, YG23, YR12, YR15, R05, R35
Beverage: YR61, YR15, RV06, RV0000, YR30, YG23

Once my images were colored, I fussy cut them out and the moved on to my background.

The background sky is inked with Salty Ocean distress ink and I used a die cut cloud border as a stencil to apply my ink. The sand is colored and shaded with Copic markers; the colors used were E0000, E43, E87, E30, E33. All the shadows in my palm trees and sandy beach were colored using W3, W5 & W7.

I really wanted to do something fun for the coconuts on my palm trees, so I used sequins from the Pretty Pink Posh Tropical Days sequin mix to create a unique bit of detail… and I love how it looks! It gives such a great bit of interest to the scene and the shine is a perfect bit of glimmer.

My little scene is mounted onto a white card base that has a tweed pattern applied on top using texture paste, and I added some Glossy Accents and Wink of Stella glitter to some other portions of the card.
