Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Dad_1

Hello!

Today I have a birthday card to share that is specialized for the dad of your life! I thought it would be fun to really personalize this card to make it more “unique” for the recipient, and to also make the sentiment the focal point of the design.

I started off by die cutting the word “dad” from some patterned paper and white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo; the word was cut a total of four times between the two papers. For the font, I chose to work with Arial, as I loved the crisp, bold feel of the type. After all the letters were cut, I layered them together with some liquid glue.

On my card base, I stamped the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes background stamp with some green pigment ink. I then attached a piece of star glitter paper to the top portion of the card, which I had made by mixing embossing paste and glitter together and applying it over the Memory Box Starry Nights stencil. Where the star paper and the card base meet, I also added a strip of cardstock that was paper pierced.

I die cut two little banners, one from patterned paper and one from black cardstock; on the black banner, I white heat embossed the word “happy birthday” using a portion of a stamp from the Altenew Birthday Greetings set. The banners and the letters are all attached with foam tape… and for an added touch, I stamped a little party hat and adhered it to the last “d”.  I like how it adds a little playful feel to the card!

For some final finishing touches, I added some Glossy Accents to the letters, tied a bit of twine around the card, and scattered some stars and gems around as well. I kept the feel on the masculine  side, since this is a “dad” themed card, and I really like how the colors paired together.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project! Thanks so much for stopping by, I am so happy you did! :)

Inspiration & Challenges

This card’s layout is inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #185, and is submitted into the challenge.

I’ve also submitted this card into the Simon Says Stamp “Let’s Get Sentimental” Wednesday challenge and the Seize the Birthday challenge.
