Kitten Hugs

Hello Everyone!

I don’t know about you, but I adore cats, and I know there are many, many others who thoroughly enjoy the cozy, loving, nature of their cats and kittens as well. So today I have a little card that is perfect for spreading lots of love!

10806486_10204781113145728_2691762557173673178_nAlso…! We have a new challenge going on over at the LiaStampz blog this week! The theme is “Be Love-able” and for this challenge, the inspiration is this cute little heart image. As in the picture, the card I am sharing with you today incorporates some hearts, a lot of white space and of course, shimmer!

For my card I chose the “Kitten Me” digi stamp, which is available at the LiaStampz blog. Because I wanted to do a lot of watercoloring and shading to this image, I decided to import the file into my Silhouette Studio and convert it to a sketch file so that I could sketch it out with a waterproof pen… Let me show you how I did this!

Kitten Hugs_3_LiaStampzOnce my image was sketched out onto my card base (made from watercolor paper), I began adding color to my kitten using distress inks and watercolor pencils. Using a lot of shading to create depth, this little kitten began to come to life! I absolutely love  it’s sweet, rosy cheeks!

Taking some heart stamps from the Paper Smooches “Scripty Sayings” stamp set, I stamped them in a dark pink pigment ink. Next, I also took the Simon Says Stamp “Soaring for You” set, and stamped the “xo” at the end of the word “hugs” in Jet Black StazOn ink.

For the background of this card, I used some light purple ink, a blending tool and a tiny polka dot stencil to lightly add some polka dots in select places around my kitten and sentiment.

Finally, for some finishing touches, I added Glossy Accents to the kitten’s eyes and nose, some Wink of Stella clear glitter to it’s belly, cheeks and ears, and a pink ribbon tied around the left side of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this clean and simple one-layer card and gathered some inspiration for your next project! And if you haven’t already, come on over to the LiaStampz blog and join in on the fun for this week’s “Be Love-able” challenge!

Happy Creating!
