Stamping and Watercoloring with Distress Oxides
Hello friends! I’m sure you have seen the gorgeous, Limited Edition Holiday Kit from Simon Says Stamp; it is stuffed with so many products, all perfect for using together to make Christmas, winter and other holiday cards (or tags)!
I loved the mistletoe branch image in the Magic of Christmas stamp set, which I decided to stamp onto watercolor paper using green Distress Oxide inks. After stamping the mistletoe around all the edges of the paper, I watercolored each one with green, red and brown Distress Oxides. For the background color, I brushed on Old Paper Distress Oxide and splattered leftover watercolor ink over everything; I love the texture it gives!
After the watercolor dried, I added a few extra details to the leaves with colored pencil.
In the kit is a book of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas stickers; I picked out quite a few that I thought worked well together and popped them each up off the card with foam tape.
I gave a bit of dimension to the berries on the mistletoe by adding Morning Dew Nuvo Drops over each one. Finally, a bit of Lawn Fawn trimmings finished the card off!
The contents of the Simon Says Stamp Limited Edition Holiday Kit can be used together to make so many cards; I hope that this design inspires you to create something with the kit!
I can’t wait to share more inspiration that I have upcoming for you, so be sure to stop back again soon. Until next time, have a wonderful day!
