Dry Brush Watercolor Featuring Simon’s Heffy Doodle STAMPtember® Exclusive
This is a preview of a card tutorial I have created for Simon Says Stamp’s Blog and YouTube channel! Please visit their blog to watch how I made this card!
Hello crafters! Have you seen the latest exclusive stamp set from Simon Says Stamp for Stamptember® 2018? This new set is in collaboration with one of my favorite brands, Heffy Doodle! I love their stamps and dies, and was so excited that they created the More Than S’Mores exclusive set for Simon’s STAMPtember® celebration!
I’ve created a card using some of the cutie-patootie critters, many of the accessories (like the two latte cups!), and a few of the sentiments! Do you want to see how I made it? Then head on over to the Simon Says Stamp blog; I have a video there for you to watch!
In the video I’ll show you how I created the textured, dry brush watercolor effect, and how I built the scene around these loveable critters!
What I love most about this technique is that it is easy to acheive, even if you are new to watercolors. Do you know what the hardest part is? Telling yourself to not overwork and overthink an area. Trust me, even after all the years I’ve worked with watercolors, I still have trouble leaving an area to “just be”.
So remember as you watercolor with this dry brush technique, you have to let the strokes and texture come out naturally and do not try to “fix” an area if you think it is not perfect. While you may be tempted to fiddle and blend out a really harsh stroke that you think looks weird, remember that when looked at as a whole, that spot of harsh texture complements the entire scene!
I hope you will stop by Simon’s blog to watch the video, because this technique really is fun to work with! Don’t forget that this More Than S’mores set is a limited edition, and is only available while supplies last. You can find the set here at the Simon Say Stamp store.
Thank you so much for visiting with me today; stop back again soon, as I have MORE inspiration coming for you!
