3 Ways to Use Neat & Tangled’s June Release

Hello crafters! Have you seen the latest release from Neat & Tangled? There are many cute stamps and dies in their latest collection, but I am going to be focusing on using the So Fly stamp and die set, the Receding Blocks die, Dog die and Clearly Canine stamp set.

The first card I made was this fun little scene using So Fly…

The sweet airplane and critters made my heart melt! I stamped them with Ink on 3 Blackout ink onto Canson watercolor paper. Prima Watercolor Confections are one of my favorite watercolor brands, and I used them to color in the images. Have you ever tried the “storybook” style of watercoloring? It’s a technique I really enjoy recreating on many of my critter cards; if you watch the video above, I will walk you through how easy it is to achieve!

Each of the images are popped up off my card with foam tape, including the sentiments. The greetings are stamped onto purple and teal cardstock and heat embossed with Brutus Monroe white embossing powder. To draw out the red in my card, I used Lipstick Red cardstock to make the base.

The next card I made uses the Receding Blocks cover plate die; there is also a stencil in this same design. I always love Neat & Tangled’s cover plate dies, as they are great for creating backgounds, textures, focal points, shakers and more. I watercolored the negative areas of the die and love the multi-colored look! If you watch the video at the top of this post, you can see how I created the clean, in-lay background with Prima Watercolor Confections.

To finish the card, I paired the Hooray Words die set with the So Many Sentiments stamp set. Both of these are previously released Neat & Tangled sets, but I love being able to mix and match my older favorites with newer sets. I cut the Hooray die from Tonic Studios’ Polished Gold mirror cardstock; their mirror cardstocks are SO gorgeous and help you achieve a “foiled” with a simple pass through a die cutting machine!

Neat & Tangled also has a fun sequin mix called, Light and Luminous; I’ve been incorporating these sequins into some of my recent projects and the colors worked perfectly on this card too! I added Morning Dew Nuvo Drops into each of the sequins for a domed effect.

I couldn’t pass up using the super-adorable, Dog die! This new die coordinates with the Clearly Canine stamp set, which features fun, dog-themed greetings!

I cut the dog into white cardstock and in-laid ears and facial features that were created from dark brown cardstock. I layered the entire panel over some Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow patterned paper; the colorful stripes make me so happy!

The puppy’s head I colored in with just a few Copic markers; I wanted to keep this card very clean and simple, as I think this lends to the style of the dog.

There are colorful hearts around the dog, which I cut with the Simon Says Stamp Sprinkle Heart die from a Gina K. Designs 2018 cardstock colors. The sentiment from Clearly Canine is white heat embossed onto the blue cardstock in the Gina K. Designs 2018 collection.

Fantastic, colourful cards. Thank you for explaining what story book style is as I hadn’t heard that said before. Loved all of these cards, did the sentiment stamp set that you mentioned still exist or is it retired now ?
