Well hello there and welcome to day two of the Newton’s Nook March release week! Today we are showcasing the lovely Beautiful Wings stamp and die sets and I have a watercolor card to share with you featuring these new products!
The butterfly images included in this stamp set are indeed truly beautiful. I love the swirl patterns that are in each wing and they make for really intricate and delicate images. In my card, I’ve watercolored each butterfly using distress inks and created a trail up the side of the card for an interesting focal point.
I started by white heat embossing the butterflies onto watercolor paper and using Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet distress inks to watercolor the patterns inside the butterflies. After everything was watercolored, I die cut each one out using the coordinating dies.
For the background of my card, I wanted to create something with movement to help make the butterflies appear as if they are flying up the card. I used a swirl stencil from Create a Smile and blended Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade distress inks onto a cardstock panel. I added some water droplets to create a bit more texture and then stamped my sentiment (also from Beautiful Wings) in black along the left side.
To finish my card design up, I added some Glossy Accents onto the wings of each butterfly and scattered sequins from Pretty Pink Posh around them (Sunshine Glow 6mm, Share Kindness mix, Amythyst 4mm, Sparkling Clear 4mm).
