Spring Thoughts

Spring Thoughts_2

Happy Thursday, I am so glad you’ve stopped by!

With more snow falling in the Northeast, the card I have to share today is perfect, as it will fill your mind with thoughts of a warm Spring day… which is the complete opposite of today’s weather outside my window! :)

For my card, I’ve chosen to work with little Betsy Bluebell watering her tulips, which is a stamp from a Penny Black Inc. stamp set, fittingly titled Betsy Bluebell. I stamped little Betsy onto a piece of watercolor paper and colored her with Derwent watercolor pencils. Once dry, I then fussy cut the image out, and added details to the image, such as highlights and dots with a white paint pen, and Glossy Accents over other areas of the image.

With a 4″ by 5 1/4″ piece of watercolor paper, I die cut a circle window into the top portion of my card using a die from the Spellbinders Celebrations Pierced Circles set (I did not use one of the piercing insets on the window). With a piercing insert from the Spellbinders Celebrations Pierced Rectangles dies, I added a pierced border around the panel.

Layered behind the window of my panel is some patterned paper from the My Mind’s Eye Follow Your Heart 6×6 paper pad, some clouds cut with the Lawn Fawn Spring Showers die set, and my little fussy cut Betsy; all these pieces are adhered onto my A2 card base.  The panel is attached over top using foam tape.

With some Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy cardstock and the Cindy Echtinaw Big and Small Says it All stamp set, I stamped the words “thinking of you” in some black ink and created a little banner. I scored and folded it to create a “layered” look and adhered it to my panel, along with a green scalloped frame and an enamel heart.

And this finished off my card! I love how happy and cheerful it is, and I hope you’ve been inspired to create a spring themed card of your own!
