STAMPtember: Stamp Layering + Clearly Besotted

Hi everyone! I’m excited to let you know that the newest STAMPtember exclusive set from Simon Says Stamp is now being revealed and is available for purchase!

This Layered Chrysanthemums set is in collaboration with Clearly Besotted, and I LOVE the stunning, layering images included in this set! The are beautifully detailed and the best part is that they are VERY easy to line up! I created this card using the images from the stamp set…

Because these are layering images, I pulled out a few ink colors to get the color combinations I was looking for. It helped to look up chrysanthemums on Pinterest, because I found quite a few inspiration photos to use for color guides, particularly the yellow ones.

There was one image that really stood out to me because the chrysanthemum had yellow tips but it turned an peach-pink color towards the center. I used this idea, as well as the choice of intense, rich colors for the centers, because that was another common theme with chrysanthemums; many have very deep colors in the inner portion of the flower.

To get the colors just right, I always find it handy to mix ink colors from different companies; the inks I used today are from Simon Says Stamp, Hero Arts and Altenew. And the combinations are below, in order of lightest to darkest (abbreviations stand for which company the color is from):

Yellows: Lemon Chiffon (SSS),  Duckling (SSS), Rouge (A)

Pinks: Cotton Candy (A), Coral Berry (A), Raspberry Jam (HA)

Purples: Soft Lilac (A), Passion Flower (HA), Deep Iris (A)

Leaves: Frayed Leaf (A), Forest Glades (A), Evergreen (A)

After stamping all the images, I fussy cut them out with Cutter Bee fine-tip scissors.

The flowers and leaves are layered onto a card panel that I had trimmed with Simon Says Stamp’s Scalloped Stitches dies. I then layered the entire piece onto a white card base that I dry embossed in my Big Shot using the Parquet stencil from Neat & Tangled.

Final touches included gold heat embossing a sentiment from the Layered Chrysanthemums set onto Simon Says Stamp vellum; tucking sequins in and around my floral arrangement; and adding clear glitter to the card base and darkest areas of the chrysanthemums.
