Neat & Tangled Reveal Day #3

Hello everyone! So glad you’ve stopped by today for day #3 of the Neat & Tangled January release! There has been so much fabulous inspiration over the past few days and today is no exception!

Today’s reveal showcases the beautiful Easter Journaling stamp set, along with the Pixelated Heart die set. For my card, I’ve chosen to work with the Easter Journaling set and the floral images from Good to See You (revealed yesterday).

I wanted to create an organic and artistic feel in this card, so I started off by flicking on splatters of Pumice Stone distress ink to my card base. This created a soft, organic paper effect, which I am totally in love with!

Next, I took the Easter Journaling set and arched the “alleluia” sentiment just a bit to create a bit more of a dynamic sentiment. I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder and then stamped a bunch of the florals from Good to See You all around it in Memento ink.

To color in my images, I used Copic markers. I made sure to leave a lot of white space in my coloring, as I thought this matched the artistic style nicely.

When preserving white space in your Copic coloring, remember to have a light hand when using your darker colors. Oftentimes, crafters may make the mistake of leaving out those darker colors altogether, which you do not want to do; rather, you need to use those darker colors to give your white areas that impacting “pop”. This provides more contrast and more realism to your coloring.

Once all my images were colored, I took some Scattered Straw distress ink and inked the edges of the card base to add a bit more color. Some Glossy Accents and Wink of Stella glitter was applied on top of portions of the floral images and a sentiment from the Maple Leaves stamp set (also by Neat & Tangled) was added onto some black cardstock.
