Creating a Snowy Sky with Embossing Paste

Well hello everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by today, as I am sharing a great way to create snowy skies to your cards using embossing paste!

This card also features one of my newest stamp sets that I’ve created for Simon Says Stamp, which is Simon & Dexter’s Christmas! I’ve used some of the images included in the set to create this cute little scene… with an adorable little bird dressed up as Santa! :)

I started off my card by stamping all the images onto white cardstock with Memento ink, since I was going to be doing some Copic coloring and Memento ink is Copic-friendly. I colored all the images with the following colors:

• Bird: BG0000, B00, B12, R17, R29, YR23

• Trees (die cut from green cardstock): YG95, YG97

• Snowy hills (die cut from white cardstock): G00, B60, T0

• Sled: E35, E47, E49, T0, T2

• Gifts: YG06, G07, G28, Y21, YR23, YR27, R17, R29, R59, V17, V09, BG15, Bg23, G00, RV13, RV23, Rv10, T0, T2

Once everything was colored, I die cut all the images from the Simon and Dexter Christmas set using the coordinating dies. The snowy hill is die cut using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside borders die set.

Note: the die cut trees used in this card are from the Simon Says Stamp Darling Friends stamp set, which was a collaboration set in conjunction with Pretty Pink Posh and is no longer available. However, the Lawn Fawn Yeti, Set Go die set has tree dies in it that are a good substitute (does not require the Yeti Set Go stamp set to use the trees, but you might want it if you are planning on using the Yeti and earmuff dies that are also included in the set).

Now, for the most fun part of all… THE SNOWY SKY!!! I love adding dimensional snow to my cards, and I’ve used embossing paste to create the snow in this card…

I applied the paste over the stencil as you normally would when using embossing paste, but (as the name suggests), you can use a heat gun to “emboss” the paste. Simply take your heat tool to the paste after applying it (no need to use embossing powder), and watch the paste “puff” up and create a true fluffy-snow feel… LOVE IT!
