Newton’s Nook Reveal Day #2 – Simply Seasonal

Happy Wednesday everyone! So you know what today is, right?? Day #2 of the Newton’s Nook November release! This is my second post for today; if you are looking for my Create a Smile video, you can jump to this link here: Masked Backgrounds with Create a Smile.

 

Today’s reveal showcases the versatile and year-round stamp set called “Simply Seasonal”. There are so many great sentiments and small images included in this set, which are perfect for just about any card you need to create during the course of the year!

 

 

I’ve used the set today to create this cute Thanksgiving card; while I paired it up with the leaves from the Simon Says Stamp and Newton’s Nook collaboration set for STAMPtember (no longer available), there are other Newton’s Nook stamp sets that can be substituted to create the same card, such as: Newton’s Birthday Flutter or Wild Child.

For my background, I stamped the images using dye inks and covered them each with PPA Matte adhesive to create a matte resist. Once the glue was dry, I inked over the leaves with Dried Marigold, Fossilized Amber and Rusty Hinge distress inks.

 

 

I wanted some coordinating purple cardstock to layer underneath my main panel, so I stamped the lattice pattern with Seedless Preserves distress ink and then did some ink blending overtop of that with the same Seedless Preserves ink. This creates a beautiful tone on tone effect and matches the purple from my leaves perfectly!

Thanksgiving always makes me think of Fall, earthy tones and textures, so I tied some hemp around the bottom portion of the card, and added scattered a few Autumn Harvest sequins from Pretty Pink Posh around as well.

I love how this ended up turning out … despite the fact that this was the THIRD version of the leaf background. LOL! Sometimes, even to the best of crafters, you have one of those days where everything goes wrong… well this was one of those days for me! But it all worked out fine in the end and I’m left with a card I like and a funny story to go with it! :)
