Inky Paws Summer Lovin’ with Newton’s Nook

Hello everyone!

Today marks a brand new challenge over at the Newton’s Nook blog, and we are all thinking Summer in this one! Check out the awesome inspiration photo… LOVE the colorful chairs!

 

 

I was inspired by the bright colors and seeing the ocean scene prompted me to create a sailing themed card. For a bit of whimsical charm, I thought it would be fun to make Newton sail on the water in his box from the Newton’s Antics set.

I started off by stamping Newton from the Newton’s Antics set onto white cardstock in Memento ink. With the solid shark fin stamp from the brand new Shark Bites set, I stamped this onto white cardstock as well, using a second generation of Squeezed Lemonade distress ink (I drew the flag outline and stick with a black multiliner). All the images were colored with Copic markers.

 

 

My water is created using a similar ink smooshing technique as I showed in this video that I created for the Newton’s Nook Shark Bites release a couple weeks ago. The clouds are die cut from white cardstock using the Puffy Clouds border dies from Lawn Fawn, and all edges of the scene layers are die cut with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies.

The panel is then attached to an A2 card base that is embossed using the We R Memory Keepers Gemstone 3D embossing folder.  For some finishing touches, I applied Glossy Accents over the water and Newton’s flag.
