Newton’s Birthday

Hello and Happy Thursday! :)

I have a birthday card to share with you today, featuring the adorable Newton’s Antics stamp set, from Newton’s Nook. I love this stamp set; it is so much fun to make Newton do all sorts of fun things, and this card is no exception, as Newton is going to a birthday party! LOL! :)

The inspiration for the layout of my card is actually inspired by the latest Inky Paws challenge over at the Newton’s Nook blog; I thought it would be cool if I turned the sketch sideways, and made the center element of the sketch a shaker piece.

I started off by stamping Newton onto a piece of cardstock, along with a balloon and party hat image from the Penny Black Inc. Big Wish set. I colored all the images in with my Copic markers, and then fussy cut everything out.

My shaker element is created by die cutting a circle frame using the Spellbinders Pierced Circles dies; I adhered a piece of acetate behind the frame (stamped with a sentiment I created using the Newton’s Antics stamp set and the Birthday Greetings set from Altenew), and then added some shaker bits and pieces inside.

Once my shaker was put together, I attached Newton and his party accessories to the front of the frame and covered the hat and balloon with Glossy Accents.

My card base is 4 1/4″ square, and I pierced the edges using the Spellbinders Pierced Squares die (I also scored a frame around the edges as well with my scoring board). I then attached the three banners depicted in the sketch, and tied a length of red baker’s twine around the side. Finally, I adhered my little shaker to the card, and that finished everything off!
