Sweet Mimi Birthday Shaker

Happy Saturday! Today I am sharing a birthday shaker card that I created for a very sweet friend of mine!

I love the sweet little images from Penny Black Big Wish Mimi stamp set… so cute and fun, which is right up my alley! :) For the layout of my card, I followed the sketch from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I stamped one of the little Mimi images with Memento black ink, and colored her in purple and green Copic markers. Once Mimi was colored and fussy cut out, I added some extra details with a white paint pen, Wink of Stella glitter and a bit of Glossy Accents.

My card base is created from white cardstock and framed with a purple cardstock frame. I created the stripes on the frame with a Copic marker and covered each darker stripe with Wink of Stella glitter. I also pierced the edges of the frame to help finish it off.

Working on my shaker element, I used some gold foil dot paper from the My Mind’s Eye On Trend paper collection, and filled it with cardstock confetti pieces that I created from a circle punch, as well as some iridescent sequins. I then adhered the shaker behind the window in my card base.

In the FMS sketch, there are two horizontal stripes; I incorporated them into my design by creating the grassy strip and tying some bakers twine above it. The grass is made from white cardstock that I colored with my Copic markers.

Little Mimi holds the vertical position in the sketch, and I attached her with some foam tape to give a bit of extra dimension. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment “happy birthday” from the Altenew Birthday Greetings stamp set onto a vellum banner, and tucked it behind Mimi.
