Watercolor Forals

Happy Monday! I’m so happy you’ve stopped by today, as I am sharing a floral birthday card featuring some Altenew stamps.

I just got the Floral Motifs stamp set by Altenew and I couldn’t wait to try them out. I love their clean, simple lines; perfect for watercoloring! With some masking, I stamped some of the flowers and leaves in Versamark ink and white embossing powder to create a scene, and then watercolored everything in with my Derwent watercolor pencils.

The colors for this card were inspired by the Altenew “From Places Abroad – China” challenge. I loved the royal blues, teals, greens and reds of the inspiration image, and wanted to capture the rich tones in my watercoloring.

Because this card took quite a bit of time to achieve the end result, I opted for a clean and simple design with a lot of crisp lines. I cut the watercolor panel at an angle, and layered it behind some blue cardstock. I covered the edges of the blue cardstock with Wink of Stella clear glitter, as well as parts of the flowers and leaves in my design. The panels are then adhered to my A2 white card base with foam tape.

I cut a strip of black cardstock and stamped the sentiment “happy birthday” from the Altenew Birthday Greetings stamp set, with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with some Ranger super fine white embossing powder. I then adhered the sentiment strip onto my panel with some foam tape.

For a final finishing touch, I added some dot details with my white paint pen and some Ranger  white enamel accents. I love how the card turned out, with its bold florals and clean design, and I hope you’ve enjoyed it as well! Thanks so much for stopping by!
