Lucky Love
Happy Saturday everyone!
With just a few days to go, I have a clean and simple St. Patty’s day card to share with you, featuring an easy way to build an image using a single stamp.
I thought it would be fun to create a “lucky” four leaf clover using a heart from the Simon Says Stamp “Soaring for You” set, and have it falling from the air, with some other little hearts.
To build my clover, I stamped the heart in the upper top left corner of the watercolor paper I had cut to 3 1/2″ by 4 3/4″ with some green pigment inks. I used two inks for each heart, first stamping the entire heart with a light green, and then the bottom half with a darker green, creating a “shaded” look. Taking some watercolor pencils, I added some extra shading to the bottoms of each heart, and drew on the stem, before blending everything with a water brush.
Next, I stamped my sentiment, using the Heidi Swapp “September Skies” stamp set. I did some masking to shorten the sentiment to simply “love you”, and color the heart green pigment ink, while the rest of it was stamped in StazOn Timber Brown ink.
With two smaller hearts stamps (one from the Simon Says Stamp “Sending Happy Thoughts” set, and the other from an unmarked Studio G set), I stamped them in a trail below the clover. I then took my watercolor pencils once again, and shaded all of the smaller hearts, including the one in the sentiment, and drew some dots with a brown pen.
I’ve layered the panel onto some kraft and green cardstocks, and covered all the hearts with some clear Wink of Stella glitter. I cut a card base from some white cardstock, and embossed it with a Sizzix striped texture plate, before adhering my panels down. Finally, some green ribbon adhered across the bottom portion of the card, put the finishing touches on my design.
I love the clean, fresh feel of this card, and how fun it was to create my clover from the heart stamp. I hope this has inspired you, and I am so glad you stopped by!
Happy Creating! :)
