Using Stencils with Embossing Folders
I love embossing folders—they are such a unique product that can be used in what feels like limitless ways! I’m pairing a couple of embossing folders with some stencils to create really cool textured backgrounds. The products I am using are from Simon Says Stamp, but keep in mind that you can create these techniques with any stencils and embossing folders you already own; in the livestream I will give you some tips for how to choose.
The shaker card showcases the Candy Hearts layering stencil set, which I ink blended with a fun orange, pink, and purple color combo. I added some embossed detail with the Rainbow Splash Magnificent Bursts embossing folder. The shaker is filled with a mix of sequins and embellishments. I also added a die cut greeting with the Simple Sending Love set.
The pair of arched cards uses a slightly different embossing folder and stencil technique—I debossed the paper before ink blending the stenciled design over top. This creates such a beautiful effect because of the way the embossed areas take the ink, and in the video I’ll show you these panels in comparison to the other card above so you can see the difference with the embossing.
These cards used the Dancing Floral embossing folder, as well as the Bold Geometric and Falling in Love stencils. The gold greeting is the Birthday Wishes die set, which I cut from gold metallic cardstick and vellum. There are even some pretty gems for an embellishment!
