5 Reasons Why I Think Tim Holtz’s Rotary Media Trimmer is a Must-Have Tool!
I have had the opportunity to play around with Tim Holtz’s new Rotary Media Trimmer (a big thank you to Simon Says Stamp, Tim Holtz, and Tonic Studios for making that happen)—which was just released today! After much use, I have fallen in love with this trimmer and feel it is a game-changing tool for any crafter. In this video, I am going to share my top 5 favorite reasons as to why I love this trimmer… and I think you will too!
Top 5 Reasons Why I Love It:
- It has a small footprint, which saves a lot of table space in my small crafting room
- The ability to be able to cut at either the top or bottom end of the trimmer
- Has foldaway extension arms that can be rotated under the trimmer when not in use
- Can cut through thicker materials, including chipboard and paste
- The blade is housed inside of the cartridge with safety features that prevent accidental cuts (including cat whiskers—I have cats who hang out with me and I used to use Tim’s Guillotine Trimmer. I was always having to worry about how close they got to it when using it.

I was having same issues with rough edges on card stock…still am.
I watched the video from Tim and still won’t cut smoothly. Beginning to wonder if it’s more suited to mixed media products and not regular card stock.
Such a disappointing and expensive purchase.
A paper trimmer should not be rocket science. It’s sitting in a closet.
I just received my TH rotary trimmer and I’m having trouble getting a ragged cut—not smooth like everyone raves about using this trimmer. What am I doing wrong?
Kathy, I was having the same problem and I contacted Tonic about it. They sent me a very short video on how to get a clean cut but I can’t link it here but it helped me. You might want to send them a request so you could have them send it to you too. Just go to the Tonic Studio website, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, click on the orange Help Center square, and go to the second item down where it says “Open a support request”. Just fill out the form and submit. I got an answer back very quick. Hope this will help you too.
