Mixed Media Christmas Decor with Simon’s Limited Edition Holiday 2021 Kit!
I always enjoy creating mixed media projects–especially around the Holiday season! My latest piece uses many of the beautiful contents included in the Limited Edition Holiday 2021 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp. I made a wooden display panel from a found object I rescued at an antique store. With the kit and a bit of imagination, I transformed the weathered frame into a vintage-inspired sign that I am now displaying in my living room for the holidays!
Inside the kit are 6×8 patterned papers from Simple Stories called Rustic Christmas; this is where I found the beautiful panels that fit inside the 5×7 windows of my frame. I also utilized the Bits and Pieces and Woodland Bits (both are ephemera packs from Simple Stories) to embellish my frame.
On the frame itself, you’ll notice some rub ons from Tim Holtz that add some distressed text details, plus a lot of paste! The paste is a combination of Icicle Crackle and Snowfall Grit Paste (both of which are from Tim Holtz and are included in the kit). In addition, I added a bit of sparkle with Mica Flakes for that glimmering snow detail.
This project may have ended as a mixed media/home decor piece, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use some of the ideas I shared in the video (at the top of this post) on your next card design. Get creative with this kit and let it unleash some festive holiday magic this season!
