Dandelions are one of those plants that often don’t get appreciated for their beauty, so I was very excited that the theme of the May 2021 kit from Simon is dandelions! I’m using the kit contents, along with Distress Oxide inks to make three different cards!
This card uses Distress Oxides to ink blend a background; the colors were Dried Marigold, Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, and Broken China. On top of the background I adhered three die cut Dandelions, each made from Lemon Chiffon cardstock and ink blended with Wild Honey Oxide ink.
In the kit are a couple of Tim Holtz Accoutrements; I loved these so much, I didn’t want to use them on this card (I’m saving them for another project). But they inspired me to pull out my yellow button stash and glue them onto the dandelions. I also stamped a sentiment from the Dandelion Messages stamp set.
The next card I made also uses Oxide inks to ink blend a background; this time I used Dried Marigold, Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, and Dusty Concord.
After stamping some of the Dandelion Messages stamps onto my blended background with Dusty Concord ink, I added a layer of stenciling. The stenciling features the Large Raindrops stencil, which I added Hello Yellow Glitz Glitter Gel through it. For a greeting, I used one of the sentiments in the Dandelion Messages stamp set.
For my third card, I pulled out the Dandelion Wish 3D embossing folder – which is included in the kit! I blended Dried Marigold, Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, and Dusty Concord inks onto the folder before running it through my die cut machine to emboss the paper. I added this background onto a layer of Rose Gold cardstock.
On top of my background, I added a greeting from the Dandelion Messages stamp set and some clear sequins.
These cards were so refreshing to create – I LOVED the dandelion theme of this kit! If you like the kit and want to grab one, you can purchase it retail or via Simon’s subscription! I hope these cards have inspired you to make something with the kit!
