Layered Stamping: Snowflakes! [How I Used Simon’s January 2020 Card Kit]
Of all the stamping techniques out there, I have to think that layered stamping might possibly be my most favorite. There’s something so satisfying about building an image from 2, 3 or more layers to create one-of-a-kind stamped images in any color scheme your heart desires!
Simon Says Stamp’s January 2020 Card Kit, Snowflake Builder has a GORGEOUS stamp set in it that can create lovely, intricate snowflakes in just a few quick stamps.
Because Winter makes me think of crisp blues, moody teals and shimmery accents, I used that color palette as the starting point for my design. The snowflakes are layered with Soft Navy, Winter Sky and Sea Glass inks. With a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink, I softened the edges by blending some ink – that frosty effect is just the look I was going for!
Over the blending and stamping, a bit of sparkly splattering was added. I recently came across this gorgeous Glamour Gel that can be diluted with a bit of water for the most intense shimmer splatters (or painting accents) I’ve achieved yet! Definitely check this stuff out if you’ve never seen it.
I of course couldn’t stop there with the shimmer… White Blizzard Nuvo Drops in between the splatters really sets things off! I also added a small greeting along the left side of my card using one of the sentiments in the Snowflake Builder stamp set. And so that I can send this card right away, I paired my finished card with one of the Metallic Silver envelopes in the January 2020 Card Kit!
I have a feeling you’ll have so much fun (or should I say “snow much fun!”?) creating with this new card kit from Simon Says Stamp. I hope today’s project has given you a spark of creativity for using this lovely kit!

such a beautiful kit!!
I missed this kit, what a shame!
Your winter card is so sweet! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome kit, I love those snowflakes!
This is truly an awesome kit. My fave of it all (even though I ❤️ It ALL) is that stamp set. Beside Christmas I have a lot of family members with winter birthdays and this kit has everything I would need for a winter themed birthday card, which I like to do to make their birthdays more special. (I always try to make birthday cards geared toward the recipients hobbies as well as the season in which they are born.) This is definitely a kit I could work with.
Your card is so beautiful Nina. Merry Christmas!
