Altered & Layered Die Cuts + Simon’s DieCember® Release
Hello everyone! Have you seen the brand new, DieCember® release from Simon Says Stamp that was revealed today?? It’s full of fun dies, which I couldn’t wait to create with.
In today’s project I am altering one of the Picture Book dies; plus using other dies in unique ways, creating a cozy and festive Christmas card!
The darling Picture Book Latte die is simply charming! I am a big coffee person, so this die is totally up my alley! The cup has a cute smile; but for this design, I wanted to make something with more of a classy appearance. I altered the die cut adding a small heart die cut over the face. Instantly, this changed the feel of the mug to exactly what I was looking for!
I further enhanced the mug with some simple Copic marker shading and Moxy clear Glitter Glue on the milk foam.
Next I worked on the background; using some white cardstock and embossing plates for my die cutting machine, I embossed the Holiday Knit Background die (instead of cutting it). This creates a soft, quilted effect that looks perfect with the mug! With some Tumbled Glass Oxide ink, I blended color on the edges for a frosty look.
To finish up the card, I started layering all my pieces together. Layering die cuts add a lot of interest to your design and help complement the main elements of the card. To accent my wintry mug, I adhered a few of the Rina Snowflake dies from Simon behind it.
I also added greetings from the Christmas Cheer and Tiny Words Christmas stamp sets, plus sequins from the Sparkling Sea and Holiday Jewels mixes.
I hope that today’s project has inspired you to create with some of these lovely, new dies from Simon Says Stamp! Be sure to come back tomorrow, as I will be participating in a blog hop and sharing even more inspiration using this DieCember® collection!
Thanks for visiting me today!

So sweet! The mug is adorable!
Wow, this is beautiful Nina, this is such a great release, I hope to get a few of these myself…Lol
Thanks for sharing how you made it.
Nina, you created a wonderful card with all of the depth & dimension & I love the bright red against all that white & then the bit of dark blue adds such a nice touch.
Love your card, the changes, the additions, just everything! Good enough to drink!
This card is so stinking cute. Want to buy everything and make one. Love the background you used embossing the cardstock and then adding the snowflake. I also like the glitter added to the whipped cream.
Ooh I love this card. Using the Holiday Knit Background die to emboss the cardstock is just perfect. You picked a sensational color combination too. Can’t wait to get my order and use this die
Love this card. The Mod Leaf Oval die and Holiday Knit background die are my fav in this release.
