Contrast & Texture with Watercolor + Picket Fence & Memory Box

Hello crafters! I don’t know about you, but I find coloring poeple images really fun. You can either color them to look like yourself, or as the person you plan on giving the card to!

Today I am using the Picket Fence Studios’ Isabella stamp set, which is part of their Beautiful Girls collection of images. I adore this stamp, as it reminds me of myself. Since it does, I thought I would color her to look like me!

I colored the girl with a mix of Prima and Daniel Smith watercolors; the video above shows how I added the contrast and texture using simple brushstroke techniques. Once the coloring was finished, I created a watercolor wash on another piece of paper, added splatters and then die cut that panel with the Memory Box Summer Meadow Collage die.

Around the background, there are butterflies cut with the Simon Says Stamp & Memory Box Flickering Butterflies die set. There are also sentiments from the Picket Fence Just Because and Sweet Dear Friend sets stamped and adhered onto the card too.

I even decorated the inside of the card! Using the same Isabella girl, I used Ink on 3 Juicy embossing ink to create a watermark image that coordinates with the girl on the front of the card. Then I stamped a sentiment on the inside using the Mom’s Clematis stamp set that I designed for Simon Says Stamp.

When I created the Mom’s Clematis stamp set, I made sure to write meaningful greetings that could be used not only for Mother’s Day or mom-themed cards. These sentiments are great for both the front of a card, and the inside too!
