Distress Ink Smooshing for Die Cuts—2 Cards! Plus Simon’s Cheering for You Blog Hop!

I haven’t gotten to play with my Distress Inks for a while and ink smooshing is one of my all-time-favorite techniques! When I saw the new Arching Leaf Border die from Simon Says Stamp’s Cheering for You release, I immediately envisioned it in an array of ink smooshed colors.

This is such a fun way to customize your die cuts—simply create a smooshed background and then cut it with any die. It elevates the look of the die cut in a different way that ink blending just can’t quite do.

The cards I created also feature some other new products from Simon’s Cheering for You collection, including the CZ Design You stamp and die set. To create the purple and blue card, I used the following Distress Inks to smoosh the background: Salvaged Patina, Shaded Lilac, Chipped Sapphire, and Villainous Potion.

The green card uses the same products as the card above, except I changed out which Distress Inks I used for the smooshing. They were: Forest Moss, Shabby Shutters, Walnut Stain, Uncharted Mariner, and Salvaged Patina.

Be sure to watch the video so you can see how I accomplished the ink smooshing effects on these cards!
