Gel Press and Distress Paint Backgrounds + Simon’s Happy and Joyful Release
The new Happy and Joyful collection from Simon Says Stamp has a lot of fun floral-themed products in the collection, which I will be using in this video! I broke out my Gel Press and Tim Holtz Distress Paints and made some fun backgrounds that I turned into the cards you are going to see here.
This card used the Flower Frenzy cling with Prize Ribbon, Picked Raspberry, and Salvaged Patina Distress Paint. I added sentiments from the Reverse Little One strips set.
Similar to the card above I used Flower Frenzy background and Reverse Little One sentiment strips, but this time I swapped out the paint colors for Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, and Salvaged Patina. That gold heart is a resin sticker from Maggie Holmes.
I loved the striking colors of this background, which I added a foiled Eucalyptus Stem on top of; I colored the stem with a couple of blue Copics. A simple greeting from the Just a Note stamp set was a perfect finishing touch for this card.
The fun stripes from Simon’s new Lined Background cling look awesome when painted with Distress Paints! I added a greeting from the Happy B Day die and new Birthday Sentiments stamp set. Aren’t those Dewdrops just perfect for this card?!
Be sure to check out the video showcasing these projects, as well as the new Happy and Joyful collection from Simon Says Stamp!

Such pretty cards!!! I love them. Great inspiration for this new release!
I have never used the distress paint, I just might have to try it. These cards are so pretty!
Such COOL backgrounds! Love the colors and this technique!!
So interesting! After watching you create these backgrounds, I just have to get out my gel press and play. Thanks for showing us how to do this. Also, a good way to use some of those paints in our stash.
Thanks for sharing! These are bright and cheerful. Love that set of marquee dies.
