Embossed Paper Strips (Great for Scraps!) + Simon’s Handmade Holiday Hop
I am always trying to make use of the seemingly endless scraps of cardstock that I have in my drawer; I always feel like I make more than I actually use. Do you have that problem too? Today’s cards helped me make a good dent in my stash (for the holiday colors, at least), as I am paper stripping some festive backgrounds. To make these colorful backgrounds even more beautiful, I’m stepping them up by adding some embossing over top. Each of these cards feature new embossing folders from Simon Says Stamp’s Handmade Holiday release!
Of all the cards I created today, my absolute favorite is this colorful card with the beautiful Etched Berry Branch on top. The berry branch features some sparkly glitter and Mica Flakes on top of the colored cardstock it was cut from. The embossing folder I used for this card was the Snowflake Visions folder. I added a sentiment using stamps from Simon’s XL Christmas Greetings set.
If you wanted to tone this card down a bit, I made a second version using that same Etched Berry Branch…
This stem is cut from Matte Silver Cardstock from Simon, with little red sequins adhered over the “berries”. I embossed the background with the Christmas Floral folder, and again used that same XL Christmas Greetings stamp set for the sentiment.
Another beautiful embossing folder from this release is the Pine Bouquet. I used this folder on one of my backgrounds that features a lot of gold paper stripping; you can see how that specialty cardstock embosses with such detail! I added a greeting from CZ Design’s Good Cheer stamp set, along with a small red heart die cut to finish off this card. This card is simple, but pure elegance!
Finally, I made a card with some random strips of embossed paper, interspersed with strips of Matte Silver (not embossed). I tied some Tim Holtz Velvet Trims around the card, added a greeting from the Good Cheer stamp set, and even glued some snowflakes on top! If you look closely, you’ll see there are some gem stickers adhered to the center of each snowflake for some added sparkle.
All of these embossed cards may look similar, but each have their own unique characteristics that make them special. I love that I not only got multiple cards out of this, but I also made some progress in using some of my paper scraps! Now if only I could stop making more than I use…! :)
