Two Cards Inspired by One Design + Simon’s October 2021 Card Kit
I had an idea to do some paper stripping and create a colorful backdrop for my sentiment. Once I created one card, it inspired me to make a second; but instead of using the same design on another A2 card, I decided to alter it into a slimline! This perfectly illustrates how you can make almost any design work for multiple card shapes with just a bit of adjustment. In these two cards I am using contents from Simon Says Stamp’s October 2021 Card Kit.
This was the card that started it all. I embossed a bunch of cardstocks from the kit with the new Kaleidoscope embossing folder before cutting these and other cardstocks into paper strips. These strips were then adhered together to form a pattern.
I used the new Talk Bubbles stencil to create a bubble for my sentiment; the ink used for the stenciling was Simon’s Celery ink. The sentiment was selected from the new So Talkative stamp set–which is the star of the kit–and is inked with Intense Black and Mandarin inks. For embellishment, I added a few Moonshine sequins around the greeting.
So this card inspired the next card that I am about to show you! I decided to alter the design to fit a slimline card.
After creating the same style background of embossed and non-embossed paper strips, I adhered them to my slimline card base. On top of the backdrop are speech bubbles that I made with the So Talkative stamp set and Talk Bubbles stencil. Because I have more space than the A2 card, I was able to incorporate multiple greetings into this card!
How fun are these colorful cards?! I love how I could translate the design across two completely different card shapes and yet they still look very similar. Both of these cards were created with contents from the October 2021 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp! This is a monthly kit that is available as part of the Simon Card Kit Subscription, or at retail price.
