I love creating and spending hours in my craft room. But sometimes I want to make a card and life gets in the way to the point that I cannot devote tons of time to do so. We all have busy lives. Often I think we feel like we can’t get creative because we don’t have hours to commit to making something. Sometimes all we have is an hour, half hour – or maybe even less.
That’s why I thought I would start a new series of card projects: 10 Minute Cards. Even if all you have on a given day are just 10 minutes to create, I want to inspire and show you that even in just those few moments, you can make something beautiful! This card and envelope literally took just 10 minutes to make and I LOVE how it turned out! Ready to try it yourself?
This card features the Simon Says Stamp Floating Leaves stencil, as well as the Swoopy Thank You die. I used Distress Oxide Inks to blend through the stencil and added some Shimmer Mist for a splatter effect. Sequins from Simon’s Sea Glass mix paired perfectly with the blue shades on this card.
I had a little extra time after making the card, so I also created a coordinating envelope. I was able to make both the card and envelope in 10 minutes!
The goal of this series is not to see how fast you can be, or to make you feel rushed. Crafting is supposed to be fun and relaxing. I took my time with this project. Some of you may craft faster or slower than I do and that’s okay. My point in sharing this 10 minute project is to simply illustrate that you CAN make a gorgeous card in a relatively short amount of time. A card that you can feel proud of and put in the mail to spread some handmade joy to somebody that you love! I hope this card leaves you feeling inspired to make something yourself, even if its just for 10 minutes!

so very pretty!!
Lovely card. I agree with you that stencil is lovely. Interesting techniques and tips.
Looking forward to more 10 min. cards. It is so important to know it can be done. I think I will make a few sets as gifts! Thank you.
Beautiful card! I too am guilty of thinking I must spend hours on a card to make it worthy of sending or giving and forgetting that sometimes less is more….enjoyable!
Thank you! I look forward to seeing more in this series
