Gel Press Distress + New Tim Holtz Tools!

If you like to play with Distress Inks and Oxides, you’re going to love the new tools Tim Holtz has released with Ranger! The new Brayers and Domed Blending Foams are great for inky techniques- including Gel Press Distress (watch the video to see that!). The other new product in this release are the much-awaited Mini Distress Cubes of the 4 new colors Tim has released over the past few months!
My slimline egg card uses a Gel Press to make some ink smooshed backgrounds. I’ve had a Gel Press for a long time and have always loved the unique effects you can create with it! The smooshing used Kitsch Flamingo, Wild Honey and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks. The pretty texture looks awesome when die cut with the Nested Egg dies from Simon.
Over top the inked eggs I white embossed the Spring Flowers background onto vellum. The vellum allows the color to show through but you also get that beautiful embossed design. The final layer on my eggs were some simple white hearts from the Chunky Hearts Panel die.
For a sentiment I chose a All Things Happy sentiment strip set from Simon. The greeting could be for Easter, congratulations for a baby, or a Spring just because! I thought an edging of Holographic cardstock would be a pretty accent to the colors in the eggs, as well as some Moonshine sequins from Simon for a bit of sparkle.
These new tools from Tim Holtz are going to be a great addition to my crafting and I’m looking forward to using them in upcoming projects!

Beautiful card. Thank you for the great tips with the new tools.
Love, love, love your eggs. They were so pretty. I have a gel press on my wish list but guess so does everyone else. Interesting techniques. Have you heard of Sticky Specs they are great for adhering vellum. Thank you for all your tips.
