I’ve always enjoyed coloring the watercolor cards from Simon Says Stamp. They are a great way to enjoy some coloring and require very little effort to turn into a card – talk about relaxation! As always, I love figuring out new ways to take my supplies and use them creatively. This card features the new Roses are Red watercolor cards from Simon and turning one of the roses into a panel for a tri-fold card!
In this card design I’ve also incorporated the new Boho Circle stencil from Simon’s Love You Release; I blended Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks to create the tone-on-tone texture. I also splattered silver Distress Mica Spray onto the background for a shimmery finish.
I picked a thank you sentiment for this card but you could swap that out for something else – for instance, this would make a great Valentine’s Day card too! I also could see this as a birthday card. For my greeting, I chose the Thanks Frame die from Simon and cut it with their new Silver Holographic cardstock. That paired perfectly with the silver mica splatters.
Finally, I embellished the card with some Distress Mica Flakes on the leaves of the rose, as well as some Moonshine sequins.
For those of you that are interested in the colors I used for my rose, here are the color combos:
- Rose petals: R30, R32, R35
- Leaves: YG41, YG45, G28
I love how I was able to completely change the look of my watercolor cards by cutting the rose out from the panel and using it to make a tri-fold card! If you want to see exactly how I did it, be sure to check out the video at the top of this post.
