2 Ocean-Inspired Cards + Simon’s Send Happiness Hop

I adore the ocean; I’ve grown up around it my entire life. I couldn’t live far away from it – the ocean is definitely “my happy place”! So whenever I get a chance, I always love creating cards – and products – inspired by the ocean.
The two cards I’m sharing today feature two of my newest products that I’ve designed for Simon’s Send Happiness release! One is Be a Mermaid stamp and die set, and the other is Tumbling Shells, which is a background stamp.
The Be a Mermaid set is used in the first card I’m sharing…

I used the set to create a see-through window scene. My favorite part about this card is the glittery, rainbow coloring on the mermaid. Be sure to watch the video to see how I did this!
The second card I created uses the Tumbling Shells background. This was so much fun to watercolor!
I white embossed the background so that I could keep the watercolors inside the lines more easily. After watercoloring I added sentiments from the new Happy Days stamp set and a few bright, Blue Lagoon sequins!

Nina, I’ve never seen a mermaids tail coloured as beautifully as yours! It’s fabulous!! I love the wave border die better than any other dies that represent waves too & you coloured them in the perfect colour. Then to top it off, the glitter you added to each was like icing on a cake. Bravo Nina!!

I love a CAS card where the main image breaks out of the central frame. That sounds like a very specific like, but I really love how dynamic it looks. Your use of the background stamp is also great. You can really feel your love of the ocean.

I am falling in love with that mermaid tail stamp; and I never thought I’d want a stamp of that! I don’t have copics but am hoping I can get a similar look with colored pencils or Ox Distress Ink. Beautiful card!
