2 Ways: Simon’s October 2019 Card Kit

Hello crafty friends! I don’t know about you, but the weather is certainly changing here on Cape Cod and beginning to feel a lot like Fall. Seems fitting though, since today is the reveal of the October 2019 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp which is bursting with sophisticated Autumn designs and sweater-weather colors!

The first card I created has a very modern, sophisticated feel to it. I really wanted the Bold Thanks die (cut from the Metallic 2 cardstock) to take center stage on this design, so I framed the greeting with gold embossed florals from the the Thankful Flowers stamp set. With that greeting, I stamped a coordinating sentiment from that same stamp set.

I keep the card super simple and only added a few sequins from the Simon Says Stamp Fresh Cut mix to bring a little color to the design.

The second card I made with the kit has a more muted, Autumn vibe to it. Featuring the Thankful Flowers stamp set, I stamped a floral stem in Gina K. Designs Skeleton Leaves ink so that I could do some no line watercolor. With my Daniel Smith watercolors, I colored the floral in rusty oranges, golden yellows, dusty greens and a bit of brown. These Fall colors create an elegant tone to the card. Around the flower, I used some dirty water to create a subtle creamy texture.

To the left of the floral, I stamped a pair of greetings with Oxide inks. I then mounted my watercolor panel onto a card base made with the Heritage pattern paper in the kit. Finally, I added a few Nuvo Drops around the floral as an accent.
