Coloring Die Cuts + Simon’s Fresh Bloom Release
Hello friends! Have you seen the latest release from Simon Says Stamp, Fresh Bloom?? It is bursting with gorgeous, new stamps, dies, stencils and more. Today I am using a few of the products in this ethereal scene that uses a combination of die cutting, Copic coloring, watercolor, and even a bit of tone on tone stamping.
I started by watercoloring the background using a random assortment of blues and purples from my Prima and Daniel Smith watercolor palette. There is even a bit of metallic silver watercolor, using the Finetec metallics palette.
While the watercolor panel dried, I die cut the Tulip Collage die from white cardstock and used Copic markers to color in the tree and tulips; using a stippling technique, I added “leaves” and also the idea of ground along the bottom of the scene.
This panel is also cut with the Wrapped Scalloped Rectangles Memory Box die, and eventually popped up off the watercolor background.
The card base the scene sits on is made with Simon’s Soft Navy cardstock, and I used the new Geometric Pattern Builder stamp set to create the tone on tone texture.
For a sentiment, I heat embossed a greeting from the new Blossoming stamp set, which is one of my newest designs I illustrated for Simon!
To finish the card off, I splattered a bit of white paint across the entire piece, then tied a length of hemp across the top.
I really love how dramatic the sky turned out, which seems to lead right down to the tulips. I couldn’t have asked for it to dry more perfectly!
Hopefully this card inspires you to create with the new Fresh Bloom release from Simon Says Stamp. Be sure to stop back tomorrow, as I am part of a 2 day blog hop that you won’t want to miss! Thanks so much for visiting me today; I will see you soon!

Nina,
First, I love watercoloring, Second, anytime I can find a stamp and/or die that will enable me to use watercolor AND tell a story, I’m all in!! I immediately saw all those requirements on your card today. Beautiful! As if you could step right through into a land of make believe. I have a card on my blog that incorporates these techniques. I hope you’ll give it a look (it’s called Storybook Cottage – January 18, 2019) third post down. I’m not blogging anymore but am keeping it open in case I change my mind (winking).
Your card is stunning! I love how you chose to design your card! Such a pretty scene! Thank you for the inspiration!
You can’t help but love this release and your cards are awesome beautiful work.
