Watercoloring Die Cuts + Simon’s January Card Kit Snow Much
Hello creative friends! Can you believe Winter is almost upon us? Many places have already seen snow! With the frosty weather upon us, it’s fitting that the Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit for 2019 is all about Snow Much fun!
Today I will be sharing inspiration using the kit and many of its contents; one of the new products included in the kit is the Twirling Ice Skater die, which I designed! I’m also excited to share that I designed the add-on stamp set, Winter Hugs; you can purchase it separately from the kit. This set was designed to coordinate with the contents of the kit, but I hope you will enjoy using it all Winter-long!
I was really excited to create a card with the Twirling Ice Skater die; she cuts as a silhouette, but the cool part about that is it lets you get creative in how you use her! After cutting the die out, you can leave her as-is, or break out your favorite coloring mediums and add details for a more life-like apperance! I used Prima Watercolor Confections to add a face and detail to her winter gear!
From the Snow Much stamp set, I chose two grettings to add onto the card; both are embossed in white. Around the top of the white card base, I tied a piece of Peppermint Lawn Trimmings; under the sentiment I placed a small red heart. If you look at all the red objects in the scene, you’ll notice they form a “visual triangle”. This is a great design rule that helps balance your card and creates a pleasing layout.
There are lots of fun pom poms in the Snow Much kit, which can be used in lots of different ways. I decided to use them as snow balls; when added into the sky (cut from the Celebrate Winter papers) and on the ground, it really gives the effect of big falling snowflakes! I further enhanced the falling snow effect by adding white Nuvo Drops in and around the pom poms.
Be sure to tune into the video at the top of this post to see how this entire card came together! I hope it has inspired you to create with the new Snow Much card kit from Simon Says Stamp! Remember that you can find more inspiration using the kit in the Simon Card Kit galleries; I always enjoy perusing the ideas everyone shares there!
I really appreciate you taking the time to visit me today; I will be back again very soon with more ideas to inspire you!
